Some of your clients may have winter travel plans that include visits to pools or beaches. Â And despite any warnings you may give them to avoid water, a few among them may find the lure of swimming too strong to resist.
Airbrush tans are cosmetic enhancements. Â And like other skin-deep treatments, they are not meant to last beyond a set amount of time, usually between 10 to 14 days. Â Improper care can cause them to fade more quickly than necessary.
Spray tan solutions contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a substance that’s especially vulnerable to the stripping action of chlorine.  Seawater is less of a threat because it contains nothing in it that can cause fading.  But it, too, can cause damage if a client stays in it for more than a short time because skin softens and can come away if rubbed off.
If your clients can’t hold back from taking part in water-based activities, here are some tips you can offer them:
use high-quality sunblock to create a barrier between the spray tan and the water: reapply frequently
limit swims to just a few minutes at a time
pat or air dry: rubbing may take off skin
to bring back color after a day at the beach or pool, clients can use a color-boosting product like NG’s Brazilian Mist
